The5ers Daily Reset Time & Drawdown Rules
Last updated: September 2026
Prop firms / The5ers
The5ers takes its end-of-day snapshot at 23:59 on the MetaTrader server clock, which means the trading day turns over at server midnight rather than at your local one.
For most brokers the MetaTrader server runs on EET — two hours ahead of UTC in winter and three in summer — so that boundary shifts against UTC twice a year even though the server clock itself never appears to change.
When the The5ers trading day resets
The daily limit resets at midnight in Athens time (Europe/Athens). That zone observes daylight saving, so the equivalent time in your own timezone moves by an hour twice a year — which is exactly why working it out once and writing it down goes wrong.
How The5ers measures drawdown
Static drawdown — measured from your starting balance.
The distinction matters more than the percentage. A static drawdown sits under your starting balance and never moves, so your worst case is fixed from day one. A trailing drawdown climbs behind your profits, which means the level that breaches you is a moving target — and where a firm lets that floor climb past your starting balance, you can fail while still showing a profit.
Why The5ers accounts actually fail
- A position closed just after the snapshot belongs to the next trading day, which matters a great deal when you are near a daily limit.
- The MetaTrader server clock is not your computer clock — read the Market Watch time in your terminal instead.
- Programme rules differ between The5ers account types; confirm which drawdown model applies to yours.
Track it without doing the arithmetic
The Pips Project keeps a live count of the headroom left on each limit, measured on The5ers's own reset clock rather than your local midnight, and follows a trailing floor when the firm trails one. It also tells you which limit binds first, because that is the number that actually stops you. See how it works, or read our guide to journalling a prop-firm challenge.
Frequently asked
What time does The5ers trading day reset?
The day is captured by a snapshot at 23:59 MetaTrader server time, so it effectively rolls over at server midnight. On most brokers that server clock is EET, which is UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer.
How do I find my MetaTrader server time?
Open the Market Watch panel in MetaTrader. The time shown there is the broker server clock, which is the one every prop-firm rule is measured against, and it is frequently several hours away from your own.
Why does a snapshot time matter more than a percentage?
Because the snapshot decides which day a trade belongs to. Two identical losing trades, one closed a minute before the snapshot and one a minute after, land in different trading days and therefore draw on different daily allowances. Traders who size their last trade of the session against the wrong day are the ones who breach on what looked like a safe position.
Does the daily limit use balance or equity?
Most firms measure the daily limit on equity, which includes the floating profit and loss of anything still open. That means a position left running through the snapshot is counted at its value in that moment, so an open loser can consume the allowance without you having closed anything at all. Confirm which basis your programme uses before you hold through a rollover.
