Tradezella Alternative (2026): An Honest Comparison with The Pips Project
26 September 2026 · By The Pips Project team · 6 min read
Tradezella is one of the best-known trading journals, and for good reason: it is polished, connects to a long list of brokers, and has built-in backtesting. It is also one of the pricier options, with no free plan. If you are looking for a Tradezella alternative, this is a fair look at where The Pips Project is different, where it is not, and who should pick which.
Pricing at a glance
As listed on each site in September 2026 (check their pricing page for current numbers):
- Tradezella: Essential $35/month ($315/year), Pro $59/month ($531/year), Ultra $99/month ($891/year). No free plan. Trade replay starts on Pro.
- The Pips Project: a free plan (100 trades, one account), Pro $13/month or $129/year, Elite $33/month or $329/year at introductory prices, taxes included. Trade replay, AI trade reviews and auto-sync are all in Pro.
Where The Pips Project is different
Built around prop-firm rules
The Risk tab tracks each funded account against its firm's own rules: the daily loss limit on the firm's trading day (FTMO resets at midnight in Prague, not your midnight), static or trailing drawdown, and which limit you will hit first. If you trade challenges, that number matters more than any chart.
Replay on your broker's own ticks
Replay uses the one-minute candles and bid/ask ticks your own MetaTrader terminal recorded around each trade, so the chart is the market your fills actually happened in. How the replay works.
An AI mentor that reads your journal
Pip answers questions about your own trading (your biggest leak, your worst session, how to size for a daily limit) using your statistics and recent trades. Elite adds the Strategy Lab: describe a strategy in plain words and backtest it on your broker's history.
Price
Pro costs a fraction of Tradezella's entry plan, and you can start free on your own data.
Where Tradezella is the better pick
- Broker coverage. Tradezella lists hundreds of connected brokers. The Pips Project auto-syncs MetaTrader 5, NinjaTrader 8 and cTrader; everything else imports from a file.
- Stocks and options depth. If you mainly trade US equities or options, Tradezella is built with that trader in mind.
- Manual backtesting on its own replay charts is a mature feature there.
Who should choose which
- Choose The Pips Project if you trade forex, gold, indices or futures, especially prop-firm challenges, on MT5, cTrader or NinjaTrader, and want replay, AI review and drawdown tracking without paying $35 to $99 a month.
- Choose Tradezella if you need a broker it supports that we don't, or you mainly trade stocks and options.
